This is a useless argument! because neither has kill Guild Wars.

Guild Wars is still alive and kicking! if you post here and forgot to do your zaishen mission where Players are pugging again, you are missing all the fun.

Off course, now and then, you get that interesting character/players who just don't seems to want to finish a mission without messing the whole thing for the rest of the players.

2 incidents.

1) 8 players, all good, even when the odd player aggro unnecessary, and we were faced with 2 groups of foes. We were still able to kill them with a slight set back, but, somehow they won't leave the light alone!! and ended getting kill right before we get to the last Harbinger.

2) 2 players with 3 heroes each, so I thought maybe I should stop that for a while since it gets a bit annoying, returned to town, someone needed help with normal mode of the same mission, wanted to Sabway, so I call my heroes, assigned them the build. After a while into the mission, the other players seems to die an awful lot, then I realized, this other player had planted their heroes at the horticulturist, to guard him .... ..... wipe out in normal mode with heroes. So..... go figures!

Guild Wars is not dead, no one kill it. You killed it, if your not playing it anymore. To players who play, its not.

when you are with 7-11 other people on TS laughing and joking while u play.
THAT is the best part of this game for me.
So what if someone makes a mistake...we can all have a good laugh as we play along.
But it also is an importaint reason why I believe a hero addition is needed in some cases:
There are alot of gamers out there that are over 17.
We don't know how old you are when we team with you, and we mostly associate with players from our age group.
The language, and some of the more descriptive phrases are kept out of general chat.
In vent, (which is always a requirement for higher end missions ect.) ...it's open season!
If players within our own age group cannot be found..pop a few more heroes in...easy!
I don't make this statement in the heart of mean spiritedness, quite the opposite, we older players are not only just protecting ourselves,
we are keeping our sometimes colorful conversations away from the more, shall we say, underage ears..

wat the point if u get the latest perfect build for u and your heroes and beat the game and have all the rarest items in the game. there is noone acknowledge that.

i play a mmorpg because i want to interact with others but that doesn't mean i want to be FORCED to group with them. the word says it all: Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, not Massive Forced Grouping Multiplayer Online Role-Playing game. If i have wanted to be forced to group with others and listen to what they said with lots of qqing going around i would rather much play a WII cos that sounds completely what a real job does.

From Prophecy to EOTN, i did grouped with a few others and i enjoy my missions, most of my zaishen quest are done grouping in hm and i enjoyed it cos if we failed, i would always try the solo option so i have seriously no idea how do people claim grouping in gw is dead. I have around 10 or more videos in my 600gb of hard drive showing me grouping with different kinds of people. Now the elite mission i am doing is insanely difficult/impossible to solo. The groups that i joined to do the mission end up failing, people were qqing and no one was enjoying it.

Having played some forced grouping games like WoW, the "elite" type of people that loves forced grouping and claim that one is "anti-social" for not wanting to group that does forced grouping dungeons full clear are obnoxious, jobless people who scams and insult people all day for the most silliest of reasons. Runs were bought with most people having no choice in that matter, and i seriously don't see how does "buying runs + grouping with obnoxious people" fits into an mmorpg, even if we roleplay as this being a real fantasy world, such nonsenses like these wouldn't have exist. However, a rl job provides all of what i said above

Beside this, to me, the only type of people that claim MMORPG is all about forced grouping is nutcases who prob needs a real job or people who are so bad at gaming they had to depend on others for help for even the most simplest things.

Today's Z-Mission i tried to do for an entire hour with a team. We kept failing. I finally decided to try it in HM with H/H and lo and behold...first time through, flawless victory.

Heroes didn't kill GW, other players did. True story.

So true, there used to be a time when I didn't know about heroes and the most uber builds and I suppose I was a lot more willing to PUG up as I didn't know any better, but once I saw that the NPCs were so much better than the majority of playes and PUGs and that the henchman and heroes wouldn't flame me for a mistake I quickly went from always finding a team for a mission the never.

Also the online resources made by players didn't help. Most of my knowledge of good builds has come from websites like this one which in turn has helped me develop my own builds and use other peoples team builds and has made me less likely to play with other people. The problem is knowledge is power. The more readily available the knowledge is the less people are going to turn towards others for help and in turn the less people are going to group together out of necessity.

So yeah we brought this on ourselves no point blaming it on our rather quiet friends the heroes.

So then GW2 should be a singleplayer offline RPG and everybody would be happy?

Partying shouldn't be an "enforced" mechanic, nor should it be so strict.

Because Half-life 2, a single player game, doesn't require a connection?

Or wait, can't I have a game that can be single player or multi player according to my mood?

Does it have to either be black or white?

GW2 should have both single and multi player options. Not to keen on the "offline" portion of what you said though.

But yes having the option to do both is a good thing. You take either one of those out and as a business you lose that portion of the market.

Unless it is a major point of the game.

The problem is, making a game like this a singleplayer game removes a large portion of the multiplayer market. I was simply responding to the other guy who said that players killed GW. I'd argue the opposite.

I'm sure everybody who finished THK in proph days remember it as a huge triumph, I sure as hell remember my elation at having finished after multiple failures.

I don't remember having felt anything other than boredom and disappointment when I rolled through eotn with a triple necro build I took off the forums, however.

Still can't agree, since I feel that the player should have the choice of playing with others or alone.

Sometimes in Left 4 Dead I get horrible bad luck and join four games in a row with horrid, rude players - and at times like that I like to just load up a campaign by myself with bots and just play through it.

If L4D was multiplayer only, I wouldn't have that luxury. And can we honestly say that this "luxury" is damaging?

If players want to play with others, they can. If players want to just play by themselves, they should be able to. Multiplayer is a HUGE point of L4D and it is indeed insanely popular, but Valve included the choice to be alone for those who wanted it.
